Project of the month MD520

MD520 Beauty

This job involved getting this beautiful MD520 from Auckland New Zealand to Brisbane Australia. But what’s a job without a little bit of fun? Our Director, Don, hitchhiked his way from Queenstown to Auckland by helicopter (with the client).

Next it was landed on the sunny Auckland wharf and prepped for its journey by sea. The next day it was shipped out to Brisbane where it could get up some Aussie air time!

Beautiful New Zealand

We are big on forming relationships with our clients. Sometimes these friendships can turn into spectacular days flying through New Zealand’s beautiful terrain to prepare a helicopter for shipping.

We are lucky to live in such an amazing country. Make sure you come visit us on your next trip “down under”.

Project of the month - 3x S-76

Good things come in threes

This project involved moving 3x S-76 helicopters from Kuala Lumpur Airport to Port Klang in Malaysia.

Once in Klang, they were then shipped on a RORO car carrier via Japan to Port of Tacoma.

They then finished their journey with a roadtrip to Vancouver.

The S-76

The Sikorsky S-76 is a medium-size commercial utility helicopter. Featuring twin turboshaft engines, four-bladed main and tail rotors and retractable landing gear – we were more than happy to move these amazing helicopters!

Another successful project

We planned the entire move, built special cradles for the helicopters to ensure they would be safe and sound, and successfully managed the project with the 3x S-76 helicopters arriving in full and on time.

Project of the month - MD369FF

Flying in the City of the Angels

This MD369FF needed to be moved from the big smoke to the City of Angels where it could get ready to take flight of a different kind.

We prepped the helicopter in Auckland, where it was then shipped by air freight to Los Angeles on a 747 freighter aircraft.

The MD369FF was then able to spread its wings in the City of Angels before being moved to its final destination, Arizona, where it is now being used for general work and tourism.

About MD Helicopters

The MD Helicopters MD 500 series is an American family of light utility civilian and military helicopters. The MD 500 was developed from the Hughes 500, a civilian version of the US Army's OH-6A Cayuse/Loach. The series currently includes the MD 500E, MD 520N, and MD 530F.

The MD369FF is a hot and high version of the 500E powered by a Rolls Royce (Formerly Allison) 250-C30P rated at 650 shp (485 kW), certified in 1984.

Project of the month EC145

Stunning day for a stunning project

It was a stunning Auckland winter’s day with a blue sky overhead and calm seas surrounding. The perfect day for a stunning project to take place.

This project involved the move of an EC145, which was more than happy to say goodbye to the NZ Winter and hello to the Northern Summer.

We landed this EC145 on a Super-yacht, what a site to be seen!

Once secure, we wrapped the helicopter up safe and sound for its journey to warmer climates.

The EC145

The EC145 is at the top of its class in the medium-sized, twin-engine helicopter category, with an advanced cockpit design, avionics and a sophisticated electrical system.

The aircraft is a member of the proven EC145/BK117 family, which today has logged more than 4.3 million flight hours with its fleet of around 1,250 aircraft worldwide.

And we’ll be adding to the sailing hours with this project!

Providing Value Added Services to protect your asset

With this EC145 travelling by sea, we wrapped the helicopter as well as securing it, ensuring a safe journey and no damage to worry about at the other end.

This is just one of the unique solutions we have developed for our global helicopter movements.

Project of the month - The AN-124 and 3 Super Pumas

An Easter Surprise

Landing back in Auckland after completing a project in Perth, Mike checked his phone and received a message to be in London urgently for another job.

Organising an Antonov charter is no mean feat. And doing so in less than two days over Easter weekend is extremely impressive - even if we do say so ourselves!!!

Twelve hours later he was sitting on an Emirates A380 and off to help out a key client with an Antonov charter.

The AN-124 and 3 Super Pumas

Volga’s boardroom turned into a war room and the AN-124 was on its way to Poland to pick up the first helicopter.

Once loaded it started its three hour flight to Gatwick.

It caused quite a stir, with only one other Antonov landing there in the last 10 years, everyone was coming over for a look (even the Liverpool Football Team!).

Another Successful Project

Five hours later, in near freezing temperatures, the team squeezed in three Super Pumas, closed the nose back up and sent her off to America.

Another successful job done!

Project of the month EC120B

A Summer EC120B Flight

This job began by arranging the EC120B to be shipped from Brisbane, Australia to Auckland, New Zealand.

After sitting on a boat for that long, this bird needed to stretch its wings! And so she did, with a beautiful flight from Auckland Port to Queenstown.

Michelle from our Operations team managed to score a seat on the flight down – getting to enjoy the stunning views along the way.

It was a great project to work on and one that many will appreciate with this EC120B being used for tourist flights within the Queenstown region this summer!

A bit about the EC120B

The EC120B Colibri is a single-engine multimission helicopter, designed for safe, simple, and cost-effective operations.

It incorporates several of Eurocopter's trademarked technologies, those of prominence are the 3-bladed Speriflex main rotor head and the 8-bladed fenestron anti-torque tail rotor; these have been partially credited with contributing to the rotorcraft's noise signature, which is 6.7 decibels below International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) limits.

Project of the month Bell 412

A Bell 412 Adventure

These 2 Bell 412 Helicopters have been on quite the journey.

We met ‘Mildred’ (the yellow helicopter), and her other half in the quaint town Mudgee, Australia to take them to their destination in Germany.

The 2 helicopters were packed up in Mudgee for their truck ride through the rugged but stunning Blue Mountains. Next stop, Sydney Airport.

At the airport they were prepped and packed for their flight to the buzzing Amsterdam (not that they got to do much sight-seeing having arrived within 48 hours). They were then made ready for their final ride to Ahlen, Germany.

After being based in Newcastle and used around NSW for many varying jobs, Mildred and her other half arrived at their new home in Germany safe and sound and ready to go.

The end result
